Routine product, privacy, and billing settlements are designed for self-service filing. The court-appointed administrator provides an online or mail-in form. You do not need to hire counsel to participate.
When to talk to a lawyer
Consider legal advice if you are opting out to pursue your own lawsuit, filing an objection to the settlement, claiming a large with-proof tier, or dealing with employment or securities cases with complex damages.
